Renaming a collection with Insight and Luna 6
Note: If you are using Luna 7 this process has been simplified. You just need to rename the collection in Tools > Collection Manager.
1. From Insight Studio select "Publish Collection to LUNA" then "Launch LUNA Publisher".
At the top of the page click "Task List".
In the Task List click the "Delete" button for the collection you are trying to rename.
(Note: Before deleting the collection it may be helpful to click the "Details" button or take a screenshot of the publishing settings page because the fields you've dragged into the who-what-where-when drop zones will be deleted along with the task.)
2. Delete the collection's index from Luna using Admin Tools:
- Launch the Admin Tools here:
Linux: ~/LunaImaging/6.x/LUNA/AdminTools/Insight_Administrator_Tools_6.3
Windows:
Click media Collections.
R-click and delete the collection you are trying to rename.
3. From "Task List" mentioned in step 1, click the "Modify" button for the Merge and Load task to completely remove all traces of the collection from Luna.
4. To change a collection name in an Insight 5.x/6x database, you will need to do the following:
Note: The collection name must match between the collection Manager and the User Manager.
The "Admin Tools" with access to User Managers and Collection Managers can be found:
Linux: ~/LunaImaging/6.x/AdminTools/Insight_Administrator_Tools_6.3
Windows:
(Note: this path does not contain the LUNA folder as the one before does. Yes, there are 2 separate Admin Tools. All this is streamlined and simplified in Luna 7 and we would love to help you migrate when you are ready!)
In the User Manager:
Change the collection name. R-click the collection name and choose Edit.
In the Collection Manager:
- Change the Group Name in Media Groups.
R-click the collection you want to rename and choose Edit.
Change the Group Name in the Window the pops up. - Change the collection name in Collection Configuration.
R-click the collection you want to rename and choose Edit.
Change the Collection Name in the Window the pops up. - Change the Standard Name in Field Standards.
R-click the collection (Standard Name) you want to rename and choose Edit.
Change the Standard Name in the Window the pops up.
Almost there!
5. Restart the Luna service. (tomcat)
Linux: ~LunaImaging/6.x/LUNA/tomcat/bin/
To run "./start_tomcat.sh" directly in that directory.
Windows: ~LunaImaging\6.x\LUNA\tomcat\bin\
To run "start_tomcat.bat" directly in that directory. If you have installed as a "service", you should restart the service under "Services"
6. In Studio publish the collection to Luna again
7. Done.
To validate take a look at Insight to make sure the collection name has changed throughout. Below is an example of what may happen if not all the changes are made.
Collection names in the Insight Java Client are derived from several locations. If you make changes to one location, you may see inconsistencies in other locations. In the examples that follow, only the User Manager collection name was changed. This sample collection was created with the name "Original Name" in Insight Studio. The name was then adjusted to "User Manager Name" on the User Manager of the Administrator Tools. Below are the changes that occurred. When logging into Insight, Inscribe or Insight Studio the name of the collection comes from the User Manager:
Once logged in, you will see the collection name in several places
The User Manager collection name will display in:
- The title bar
- The collection value in the data display
The original collection name ("Original Name") shows up in two other areas:
- The main collection Group (derived from the Media Group name)
- The standard name in the data display (derived from the Field Standards)
There is also one more area that the User Manager collection name will display in;
