If you're not sure how to structure a collection but want to add your content to the system, uploading to the IMIC is a good idea. You can then organize the content using labels and easily copy items into a collection. Once a media item is copied into a collection a blank record is created for you. The IMIC allows you to add the same item to different collections. Consider it as a staging area for the content you haven't organized or cataloged yet.
MyUploads
The LUNA Viewer has a My Uploads feature which allows users to upload items directly from their desktop into the system. This is useful if you don't want to give a user access to the LUNA Library but they still want to upload some content.
If you've added items to the LUNA Viewer using the MyUploads feature, they will appear here in the IMIC. By default the items in the IMIC are private to you, but you can make them available to other users by changing the access permissions. You can also choose whether the items can be edited and deleted by others. You can also choose whether or not the item will display in the LUNA Viewer.
Note |
---|
Checking the item for display in the LUNA Viewer is an important concept. The LUNA Viewer allows users to add items to a Media Group and then share this Media Group with a wider audience. All items in the group must be marked as public AND for display in the LUNA Viewer in order for this wider audience to see them. Otherwise, when they try to access the Media Group if you do not check to have the item display in the LUNA Viewer and you add the item to a Media Group and share with others they will not see the itemsthe items will be missing. |
When you are in context of the IMIC you'll see all your items as well as other people's MyUploads items marked as public.
